When you`re indie or in short of good designers or both you start to get your drawings done yourself or by another developer or non-designer role in the team (if there is any team), but you always say ok it`s good enough this way but the truth is that the art bad, really bad...
That happens because most of us don`t improve our arts skills or at least don`t try a little bit harder.

"SpriteAttack" on 2D Game Art For Programmers from a artist try to lead us in the right tracks. Bellow are two images that I made based on his tutorials.

Before you leave this post download Inkscape, its the software used in the tutorials, is supported in Windows, Linux and Mac OS oh and is free (open source ;D)... Is very easy to use, better than gimp in my opinion and for those who are used to Illustrator, Photoshop or Paint.NET is a even easier to work tool. Put it on your dev-tool-belt right away private!

Go on now and give it a try, the worst that can happen is having some fun.

First Game - Candypot! for Android

Hi everybody!

I coming here today not to put up my opinion or review a game, instead I'm here to show my first official game released: Candypot!

It's a casual jewel game, in our case candies made of fruits yummy!!!! It has lots of power up jewels, they are surprise (I won't spoil), it integrates with PlayPhone (which is our publisher), is hell of fun and it's free-to-play!!!

I worked on the Android version and we have a Facebook version too... can't confirm but I hope we can make an iOS version soon....

O evento é gratuito e tem oficinas na parte da manhã e palestras de tarde, a limitação fica por conta do tamanho dos labs então esteja na porta esperando hein....

iOS Quick Tip - Turning Off Automatic Reference Counting aka ARC

When developing your new apps under the newest XCode beta with iOS 5 you`ll get the ARC as gift, ok not a full git YET, but still a powerful gift.
So the question(s) arises: "What to do with code that isn`t under ARC yet?", "Can I turn it off?", "Can I turn it off only in a few files?"

Easy now, that is not a big trouble, I do hope that Apple engineering team improve this but for now let`s stick with what we got.

Turning ARC off for a new project (XCode Preview 7 onward *we hope*)

This is the easiest way, when creating a new project just check/uncheck "Use Automatic Reference Counting"

Turning it off for a few files
I`m personally not a huge fan of compile parameters but at least we have then when nothing else help us.
So open your project and select your desired target. Then select Build Phases, expand Compile Sources. There you`ll find the files that XCode is compiling, select everyone that will not use ARC and hit "enter". In the white box type -fno-objc-arc and hit enter. Done!

That`s all we need to stop using ARC in some of our project files, and whenever you change your mind just remove the flag.

Apps for iOS - Jetpack Joyride

We are used to lots of apps every month but some times one or another really does all that "OMG THAT`S AWESOME!" and Jetpack Joyride from @halfbrick is exactly that kind of app. Congrats @halfbrick team, this is a great and inspiring job for us devs and gamers.

It`s as simple as a running game with a cool machine, rainbow, shark and other jetpacks, some machine to ride and lots of awesomeness. The game is very beautiful, his background goes fast backwards in parallax movement (different speed for each background layer) while you go forward flying or riding a hot machine. The characters have expressions in their movements, even being a little small, and the animations are smooth.

Its very easy to play, your only command is up and down holding or releasing the touch screen, if you catch a ride a nice machine will appear and touching transforms in the machine command. Besides the music and the sound effects are nice too, sometimes the music starts to repeat to much but you never get tired of it since you probably will have breaks between one play round and another.

Oh and there is all those kick ass itens like dynamites, head starts, golden machines, new cloths and new jetpacks, and more. And if you get a special x coin you can spin the machine to get a prize after you die, sometimes you can revive others you`ll simply explode with bombs and get shot a little further in the level.

The screen video bellow show a friend o`mine playing on its ipod touch and the other video is the official trailer. The last message I have to give you all, if you play this you won`t stop playing....don`t say I didn`t warned you.

iOS Quick Tips - Flip Animation

Whenever you have views in your fancy applications you`re probably thinking about some animations to make navigation smoother between some screens or between views.
Let`s imagine that we are building a card based game and that at some point we want to touch the card and it`ll flip revealing it front side.

Start by creating a new project on xcode. File > New > New Project or simply command+shift+N.
Select single view application and click next. Fill the info in the next screen, don`t check anything and let iphone device selected.

Create two new files a view nib and a view controller named FlipAnimationCardView and FlipAnimationCardViewController.
After creating them open the nib and attach its file owner to our view controller and attach our root view to the view controller.
After it you can put two UIButton, make them fullscreen with different image in each one, them link them and its touch up actions to our view controller.
The video bellow show how to do these steps.

Now we can place our animation in action with onCardBackTouched and onCardFrontTouched.
UIView has a static methods for animation, we`ll use transitionWithView but you can play with animateWithDuration too.

In the code above we are saying to the UIView class that we want a transition using btnCardBack during 1.5 seconds and we are setting the animation to be a Flip From Right type and telling the UIView to animate it with a EaseInOut curve so it will be smooth. There are more options and you only need to separate the parameters with | so the function identify what it have to do.
During the animation we ask the view to change btnCardBack and btnCardFront alpha property to 0.0 and 1.0, so it will vanish from the screen showing the front part (btnCardFront).
Every property that can be animated and is inserted into animations block will be animated by the UIView method.

The code above only animate our back part of the card, how can we animate its front card at the same time so it will appear like we are really flipping it?

We need to add this second part, the same code but passing btnCardFront as the view to use in the transition.

From here you can insert this into onCardBackTouched and the result should be

Before we go testing lets tie app delegate to our new view controller so it`ll appear when the app execute.

Your appdelegate.h should be like this

In the .m file your didFinishLaunching method should be similar to this

Now build your code and test it on the simulator, you will see the card flipping nice and smoothly, but when you touch it again nothing happens, why? Because we didn`t created any animation to make it flip back. To do this insert the following code into onCardFrontTouched

If you execute it at this stage you will see the card flip back after you see the front part, very nice and not so hard to do. This code we made works for both fullscreen and not-fullscreen cards, but there is a shortcut for fullscreen cards.

Change our touch actions code to be like this

Cleaner than before but doesn`t work for cards smaller than the screen the reason is that transitionFromView:toView: animate the view and its parent.

Now to the last golden egg, what if we want the card to flip automagically after some time? We have two options performSelector and NSTimer, the first one will call our method after a time delay the second is a timer that can be scheduled to happen and have a loop parameter.
They have its pros and cons and I`ll not discuss this right now and for this tip we will use performSelector.
I decided to use viewWillAppear, but you can call your performSelector or register your timer wherever you want.

Add viewWillAppear to you view controller or code the performSelector inside it passing onCardBackTouched as parameter

Build and play with it, you can go further and flip it back automagically, insert multiple cards, make a category helper class to call this code from a view instance or something similar, just have fun!

Bundler -> bad interpreter: No such file or directory

This is a very short post...I`m having some problems with ruby on rails environment and in the middle of one of thousands of cleanup tries I got the error bellow when trying to run bundle install command:

-bash: /Users/myself/.rvm/gems/ree-1.8.7-2011.03/bin/bundle: /Users/myself/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-
p180/bin/ruby: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

After wandering in the internet I didn`t find a solution....so simply uninstalled bundler:

gem uninstall bundler (use sudo only if needed)

Now just install it back

gem install bundler

This solved bundler problem for me, the real cause is some misconfigured reference but I couldn`t find it, if you know a better solution or explanation please share it.

Using mercurial and bitbucket for projects

People tend to look for alternatives to SVN, MS Team Foundation Server, Git and others.

One option is a combo of mercurial and bitbucket.

Why mercurial? Because is similar to git, is easy to use even in terminal and works in linux, mac and windows. Why BitBucket? Because its free source code hosting that works with mercurial, accept up to 5 members, has no limits of private and public repositories and no limit to its size.

What do you need on windows?
Install Mercurial (If you`re going to install Tortoise HG you don`t need to download Mercurial and THG alone, there is a package with both at mercurial`s page)
Install TortoiseHG
Have any doubts on how to use? Access this manual http://tortoisehg.bitbucket.org/manual/0.9/explorer.html

What do you need on macosx?
Install Developer Tools (If you already have xcode don`t bother about this item)
Install Mercurial
Install MacHG
If you want another diff/merge application try DiffMerge

I didn`t have used it on linux yet but it shouldn`t be too dificult, if you did it please let me know so I can update this post, thanks.

Set up your account

I want to use Lua....but what about the IDE?

I think that the title said it all, you look to Lua as a good language to create whatever you're planning to, but then you face a neat problem: The IDE.
This post is dedicated to Lua devs and game devs, specially those that decided to use Corona SDK as an application platform (more game SDK than app SDK).

The steps to follow are:

Download and install IntelliJ Community Edition or pay for other versions (is not really necessary if you don't really need) from here http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html
Download Lua plugin for IntelliJ here http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?idea_ce&id=5055
Now unzip Lua plugin and copy IDLua folder to intelliJ's plugin folder in a path like this C:\Program Files (x86)\IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition 10.5\plugins (is very likely that your folder path is another one)
Open IntelliJ and access Settings in the file menu or type Ctrl+Alt+S. In IDE Settings section you'll see the Plugins area, click it and check if Lua is listed on the right panel. If isn't appearing there try to install trough available list or follow this tutorial https://bitbucket.org/sylvanaar2/lua-for-idea/wiki/Home
Hey its done!!! When you start project creation you'll see Lua option in the list...

Now for Corona SDK

Download the Corona SDK for IntelliJ here https://bitbucket.org/sylvanaar2/idlua-sdk-corona/wiki/Home
Unzip the package into a fixed place, this means that this folder (Corona SDK for IntelliJ) must remain there as long as you're using it with the IDE
After creating the project you will work into select project's root and type F4 to access project structure.
Here click in SDKs in Platform Settings section and in Lua sdk add a new Classpath, in this case the path to your Corona SDK fixed folder.
Ready to rumble!!! Now you have intellisense for Corona code and the documentation (type ctrl+q to access it)

Note: You must add SDK's and API's in every project you need them.

Quick Tips - IOS Dev - Documentation Shortcut

This tip was given me by @marcolindoso, one of my co-workers and friend at Parsec Digital.

Most of the times Apple documentation is very useful but we have to copy the code and go to google or the Apple site, so instead of doing this we can use xcode sdk docs. Ok nice idea but the shortcut its too dificult to remember or even to guess if you don't look for it in preferences.

So let's change this:
With XCode opened enter in Preferences (Type: command + ,)
Open key bindings and type "Documentation" in the search field, now you gonna see a list and in that list is the key binding "Search Documentation for Selected Text", select it and type enter
When the key binding open for editing input command + D

Done, now you have easy to remember shortcut for documentation access, to use it put your cursor over any piece of apple documented code and use the shortcut.

Quick Tip - IOS DEV - UIColor

This is a good fast tip for ios newbies (like me)....I was trying to use UIColor to create a color with RGB values like this:

But this natural approach is wrong and if you read Apple class reference here (as I did) you probably will realize that each color must be between 0 and 1....what a damn confusion uh Apple...

For those that didn't realize it before just divide it by 255 and everything goes well:

What happens when you put together the coolest of the warriors: Vikings with something everyone wants to try once in life: Trampolines?
I didn't know until D-Pad Studio announced Viking on Trampolines.It's a well polished pixelated game, with beautiful images and nice music at least that is what it appears to be in the following trailer: Furthermore there is a 4 players multiplayer match hell yeah!!!! And there will be different civilizations (for those of you that dislike vikings...) and a 1p campaign too....wow this will be good.

Hey D-Pad Studios launch this game soon please because we are so eager to play it....(I am and the rest of you probably are going to be too)

The video below shows Cordy, an cute 3D adventure game for Android....
I downloaded it last night and right away got addicted to its image and game play, worth the download since it is FREE, yeah F-R-E-E.

By the way Cordy is the best free game I got since I bought my Moto Defy with Android 2.1, oh and runs very well, with some lags but is ok.

Hope they think about bringing this to the iphone/ipad too....

NDS and its final jewels - Monster Tale

Everybody knows by now that nds is exchanged by Nintendo 3DS, but many of us, gamers or not, are still playing and will still gonna play even after his "official death".

The good part is that is in these times that we start to find some jewels amongst the main games and one of these is Monster Tale from Majesco/DreamRift.

The game has a simple history nothing to much refined but still holds you into it, nice colorful graphics and its gameplay is a mix of pokemon and castlevania. Why would you ask, because you play with a little girl lost in the monsters world that find a companion monster wich can evolute in different forms and both of them have a bunch of skills....

The music sometimes is repetitive but the fun factor and all those monster evolutions will make you want to play it to the end...
This jewel deserver to be in nds final play list, if you want to see more access the official website, but go directly to screenshots and video because other areas spoil good things about the game....don't say I didn't warned you all...

Alice Madness Returns - This is Madness!!!!

Alice in wonderland is a history that most consider a child classic, but some years ago Eletronic Arts produced American McGee's Alice which was the first Alice adventure outside it's cute world to a darker version of the history...I'm not going to tell all the details but the thing is that EA guys are bringing us Alice Madness Returns the sequel of the previous game.

What do you think....does this alice seems much more fun than the original one?Via kotaku us

Lua engines for games development

Today I just started my post graduation (please tell me which is the correct term in english for a specialists after the graduation course that is not a master degree =D) and I saw one really good 3D engine with lua:Shiva from StoneTripOh the free version has lots of features almost all of the pay features are in the free version too, for lone wolves or small start up teams seems to be a good option.Then I remembered Love, another engine but a 2D, a good one =D also written in Lua.I know that this turn I'm not posting how to use them but at least is a start to know what is out there in the world for programming good games =D.Oh and just to a small note Lua is a brazilian programming language and I'm happy to say that is better than some crappy things we see out there =D

XNA Adventures: Building a Sprite Class

Hi everybody!
After some time playing with XNA I decided to start spreading what I know so others don't need to suffer in some problems and can enjoy as much or even more than I'm enjoying play with it.
In this first tutorial I'll show you something very basic that is a simple base Sprite class that you can expand or use in any project (I'll use it in my next tutorial to show 2D animation).

Requirements:
Visual Studio 2010 or 2008; (I'm using VS2010)
XNA 4.0 or 3.x; (I'm using 4.0 so somethings might need changes, just ask me if you got any problems ok?)
Start by creating a new windows game project in visual studio then create a new class named Sprite. This class will be the base for any sprite (i.e. char sprite, life sprite, background and so on) that you create so don't add any specific logic here.

A sprite needs a texture (the image), a position, a size, a scale and his asset name. Let's add them as attributes

The properties are now in their place but we don't set any of them, we're going to do this using two methods: Rescale and LoadContent
-Rescale: This method will verify if the texture exists and then will rescale the image trough Size property;-LoadContent: This method will load our texture and rescale the image properly calling Rescale.

Ok almost there, we just need to draw our sprite and update it so it'll be prepared to future movement input.
To achieve that we will add two drawing methods and one update method.
-Draw: Use a SpriteBatch.Draw method to draw our texture in the screen;
-Update: Change position using sprite speed and direction and the game time.
The drawing method should be like this

Basically the parameters we're passing to SpriteBatch.Draw are:
-Texture: _spriteTexture;
-Position: Position;
-SourceRectangle: sourceRectangle; This represents the area of your image that actually will be draw to the screen, everything that is not inside this rectangle will be ignored.
-Color: Color.White; This is the a color to tint your sprite. Use white if you don't want to add any color layer to your image.
-Rotation: 0.0f;
-Origin:Your sprite origin, in this case it will be upper-left corner (0,0).
-Scale:Scale;
-SpriteEffects: flip your image here or use none;
-LayerDepth: xna draw textures in layers, use 0 so xna organize the layers or specify a number to set your texture layer;
To finish our Sprite class we only need an update method

From here you can change and adapt it as you desire.
If you just want to test it go on and change your Game class with the following code

Before starting to code for Android

So many people asked me "what is needed to start creating apps for Android?" that I decided to make a small guide here to help you in this awesome quest.First of all download the following:

Now start by installing JDK package, if you already have be sure that it's updated to version 5 or 6.
Then extract the sdk zip file in an easy to find folder. Do the same for eclipse but in another folder.
Now I'll try to make this easy so follow the image:

Click in Install New Software on Help;

Click in Add to insert a new Software Site; Give it a name (like "ADT Plugin") and the following URL: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ or http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/

Wait for it to update and select Developer Tools.Now you see the installation list, read the license agreements (accept it otherwise you can't install anything :P);
Reestart Eclipse.

In the future when you need to update your SDK, simply repeat the steps above, just skip the Software Site adding.

To complete the SDK installation we need a few final steps.

Open Eclipse, if isn't already opened, click on Window > Android SDK and AVD Manager. The manager gives you the capability of controlling your virtual devices (like iphone simulator), your installed packages and install the availables packages.

After that your gonna select available packages > select all of android packages (if you want to select the third party packages is ok but will take longer to download).

Click in install selected and go drink some juice.

The installation is completed but we're not there yet, there's still the AVD to configure.
Access the Android SDK and AVD Manager again, once there click on Virtual Devices > New, the window bellow should appear. Fill the information and click in Create AVD.

Name -> A name for your virtual device;
Target -> Which version of the Android OS the device will simulate;
SD Card -> If you need it fill the size or use a file (a .iso file);
Snapshot -> Check this if you want to save state. The same as vmware/sun virtualbox snapshot;
Skin -> Specify the resolution, I often use built-in;
Hardware -> Set your hardware needs. Like GPS and Track ball for example.

Troubleshoot

If anything goes wrong check if the SDK folder is set in preferences.Access Preferences on Window and you should see the image bellow. Select Android and then browse the SDK location

Coding what? Coding Dojo!!!

Since I started to participate in py dojo people I invited have been asking me what is a coding dojo? In the beginning I didn't have the right awnser to this question but as I went trough the dojos this awnser became more clear in my mind.

The awnser to the question: What is a Coding Dojo?

Basically a coding dojo is a meeting of developers group where they solve problems together in an specific language. Is good to remember that the type of dojo I'm describing here is non-competitive and fun where any level of skill is permitted, as far as I know there are other type of dojos with different focus.

The objectives are: of course have fun; improve your skills in the language used, your team work and your brainskills to solve problems (normally they are quite challenging).

Ok then, but what is needed for a coding dojo? The minimum requirements are an PC or Laptop, a local for the meeting, a projector and a minimum of one developer with great knowledge for being the guru.

The master is the guy that guides the dojo and guides the group in moments of doubt about the language.

How the dojo is organized

Now we already know what it is and what is needed. The next step is the execution, it happens more or less like this:

20 min for choosing the problem and the initial approach.
a quick lunch, like 10 min or less (is easier to think after you eat).
First part with a real action, 1st hour coding.
another quick lunch, more 10 min or less (just to take a breath, sometimes the group solved the first challenge at this point).
Second part with more real action, 40 min or so coding.
After finishing we do a quick retrospective about the session with the good and bad things. The tip here is to use a board and put post-its with + and - signs, people tend to feel more confortable writting than talking.

How to the code the code

The meeting is organized but how we're supposed to code is not. If my memories are ok at the dojo I'm participating we use Randori Kata which is a way of saying how things happen.

The problem is solved in pairs, like extreme programming, a driver and a copilot.
Everyone is invited to help on the right time (I'm going to get the list of rules and update here).
Each pair has a timebox to advance, 7 min works for us.
Use TDD and BabySteps, is hard I know but you'll have to give your best.
Every time a timebox ends the driver gives his place to the copilot and another person takes place as the new copilot.

Things that worked for us

Add a white board and post-its as requirements. The white board is used to solve the problem, remember the problem, to place the rules of the dojo and for the retrospective time when we place the posts-its with good and bad things.

Try to change where the meeting occurs, like three weeks in one company, other three in an university and so on. This is good for seeing new places and new people.

Also try to change the days of the week it occurs, one week on monday the other on wednesday and so on. This helps newcomers and members being more constant.

My vision

All this explanation and I didn't mention a single word about what I think. For me the dojo exercise/teach us some important points:

Problems are not always only a matter of language.
Playing as a team is important, but think as one is a learning process.
TDD, boy this skills is fun and good but hell is dificult to get used to.
You're not alone in the world, the exchange of knowledge is a must have, exercise it! (is good to meet new people)
Attention, if you don't pay attention you'll loose yourself in the process.
Oh and I can't forget the fact that we are increasing our skills in the choosen language.
Having fun!!!

These are just a few reasons for participating of a coding dojo, pick one and happy coding.

I read an interesting and funny post about JRuby on Windows and an appeal to Ruby community to make nicer to develop Ruby programs in Windows.

The best thing about this post is the fact that he was originated from a member of the community, Engine Yard. Why this is so nice? I guess its because we devs should worry about creating a program in Ruby not in buying the best hardware to program into it.

I really hope that Ruby grows in such way that Windows market share turns a natural part of its actual market share.The painless part about Ruby, in this case JRuby, in Windows is not needing any pre-reqs installed, just run JRuby installer and go rocking the world creating Rails applications or Ruby GUI applications immediately, awesome isn't it?

I was looking for CES news at CNET,Engadget and Gizmodo US and found lots of interesting things, but specially I wanted to show here two of them.This awesome robot from DreamBots that does massage on us and his name is WheeMee.

What is RockMelt?

The short answser: a social integrated browser. Kinda complicated? In fact is easier than people think.

I got an invite to RockMelt and before downloading it my thought was: "Just another browser....." but when I opened it I found much more than a browser.

First it is based on Chromium ( the Google Chrome Open Source Project ), to me this means a lot because is light for the computer and pretty clean. And besides that I'm a developer, so we (devs) can get in the project and see it inside or even help.

Second, it's integrated with facebook and with everything that have an rss feeder. The facebook integration is perceived when you try to open RockMelt as it asks your account, after that it shows your logged friends on the left and if you click then you use facebook IM feature, for me that is DAMN COOL!!!!!
On the right twitter and your facebook account are added by default, but is here that you can add your favorite rss feed, another DAMN COOL feature.

The third and last thing I want to talk about is the Share button, this nice button between the address field and the search field adds the possibility of spreading anything you're seeing to your other social media connected to RockMelt, in its case facebook and twitter as far as I know.

RockMelt got other nice features but I didn't get deep enough to talk about them.

Now back to the question "What is RockMelt?" we can re-write the answser "It is a damn cool amazing best browser with social media integrated in it, where I can share things with my friends and get my reading feeds faster"

Maybe I'm overating or just maybe it's going to rock the house. Oh and just to remember that it requires invitation to download, but that is not a problem, ask in facebook/twitter or access RockMelt

Capcom is one of my favorite game producer, they always surprise me with something different. But this time they hit the spot!!!
They're producing a game similar to god of war serie (PS's) but with Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/XBOX360) design, asian Gods (hell yeah!), they're using Unreal 3 Engine and the most important, it'll be released for xbox360 too.
The name of the big, awesome, fantastic game is AZURA'S WRATH......okay, maybe I'm overestimating the game, but it seems a blockbuster....see for yourself and let us hope to see this baby soon =D

Good movie - The Sorcerer's Apprentice

I watch a really good movie from Disney today, first I was in disbelief about it but after a few minutes I changed my mind.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is much more than simply a copy of harry potter, in fact it doesn't resemble nothing harry potter movies...
Its references, for me, are more likely to be Dragon Ball Anime, Star wars (some jokes, see for yourself) and the good old medieval sorceres books (I can't remember the names, if you do please leave a comment =D).
Sum it up the effects are great and simple, the actors really get into the characters and the history is well made.
It worth your money go see it!

So I leave here with the thriller, enjoy it.

Alias to namespaces in C#

I know that probabily you already know how to give an alias to your namespaces references and I know also there is some easy content in the web that explain that.

But this is a little tip that I never thought searching and step on it by chance.

Imagine that you are using two or more control libraries, one is from .NET (Desktop or Web) and the other are from external companies or from the community.

In this case it's very common to find a Label control, for example, in more than one library. So when that happens you'll have something like this:

Imagine calling these references all the time, this is bad for readability and also for the compiler, which have to load the reference in runtime instead of doing it in compile time.

There is a very simple way of not loading this references all the time and improving the readability, that are aliases.

So that is it, I hope you all liked it.

Searching for labels in Team Foundation Server - TFS

In my new work I started to dealing with TFS Version Control programming in c#, for some problems you could use the microsoft library, for others you have to use the TFS Command Line Utility both in code.

Ok, some of you could ask me what is this Team Foundation Server?

It's the server storage for the version control of the Team Foundation Suite of Microsoft. The Version Control here is a combo, composed by Server (TFS) and (TFVSC).

While Team Foundation Version Control is equivalent to Source Safe, provided by Microsoft too there are other equivalents like Tortoise Subversion, a excelent alternative for those with no money to expend in the sooooooooo expensive Microsoft set of solutions.
But in the case of Tortoise you still need a server to host your files, for example assembla.

Ok enough of this small talk! got it?

In a certain point of the tool I was developing appeared a need to query the server for all the labels of a specific folder. You could use it to get files labels too.

So let's go to method that solved the problem =D.

Essa é específica para o Brasil. Esse mês terminam as inscrições para o S2B, programa da Microsoft que visa inserir os alunos de fim de ensino médio e de início de área tecnologica na faculdade nas tecnologias da Microsoft para Desenvolvimento e Infra-Estrutura.

Mudar tamanho do Shadow Storage no Win Vista/Win 7

Então você comprou um HD de 1 terabyte que está diminuindo a cada dia? Que diabos está acontecendo?
Ok, acalmem-se, em primeiro lugar isto só parece acontecer no Win Vista, em segundo lugar é fácil de resolver = D.

Abra o prompt de comando como administrador e execute o seguinte:

vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /On=%windowsdrive%: /For=%windowsdrive%: /MAXSIZE=%tamanhodesejado%

Onde %windowsdrive% é o HD do Windows, por exemplo C ou D, ou qualquer nome que você deu para esse HD, %tamanhodesejado% é o espaço que o Windows usará para os arquivos de recuperação, por exemplo 5GB ou 500MB ou o tamanho desejado.

Você pode usar um outro local em vez de %windowsdrive%, mas lembre-se de colocar um maxsize nele ok?

Ah e o comando a seguir mostra o espaço utilizado para os arquivos de recuperação em todos os HD's que estiverem na máquina:

vssadmin List ShadowStorage

Isso funciona no Windows 7 também = D, no Win XP, exite uma interface para essa tarefa o que torna o comando meio inútil. O Windows 7 não têm problemas com grande espaço utilizado pelos arquivos de recuperação, mas não consegui encontrar a mesma interface do Win XP, se é que ela existe.

Change Vista/Win7 ShadowStorage Size

So you brought a new hard disk of 1 terabyte and it's size is decreasing every day? What the hell is happing?
Ok just calm down, first this only appears to happen in Win Vista, second it's easy to solve =D.

Open the command prompt as administrator and execute the following command:

vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /On=%windowsdrive%: /For=%windowsdrive%: /MaxSize=%wantedsize%

Where %windowsdrive% is your's windows location, like C or D or any names that you gave to your hard disk, %wantedsize% is the size that windows will use as recovery space, like 5GB, 500MB, or your desired space size.

If you wish you could use another location instead of %windowsdrive% but remember to put a maxsize in it ok?

Oh and this command let's you see how much space is used for recovey in all hard disks:
vssadmin List ShadowStorage

This works in Windows 7 too =D, in Win XP you already have an interface for that so this is kind of useless. Windows 7 doesn't have problems of huge default recovery space but I can't find the interface, if exists, anywhere so it's usefull here.

MySql 5.1 doesn't work with Ruby!!

I'm starting to develop applications with Ruby On Rails, my enviroment is Windows XP and Aptana Studio 1.2 or Netbeans 6.7, I'll talk about the IDE decision in other post.

Ok so I was reading my ebook, Simply Rails 2 by Patrick Lenz, I got it via email given by the editor's website, and I started to see the chapter about database interaction. When the command db:migrate was executed in the ruby console it returned the following error: "undefined method `each' for #"

First thing to do was to google the error rsrsrsrsr and after a little while in the web, something close to 30 min, I found one solution and one reason to the error.

The reason for that error to happen is that ruby 1.8 and 1.9 are still compiled to work with MySql version 5.0, they say that it might work with latter versions but that isn't my case =[.

So you have some ways to work it around:
First: Roll back your MySql version to 5.0 or earlier. Not a good one, but works.
Second: Put Instant Rails libmySQL.dll file into your ruby/bin directory. Save the old one for eventual needs. That's the one I used and works pretty well with MySql 5.1 and 6.0, at least until now.
Third: Choose another database, okay this isn't the best one but if anything else doesn't work at least there are another databases that are compatible with ruby.

The search for the right date time format

I was working at this thursday in a friend's project, at my job, and my boss asked us if there was any format of data that Oracle and SQL Server accept at their database date field.
After a little search we find nothing and tought about ask a common friend of us, that really knows a lot of DB, but he didn't remind of anything that we could use, so we decided to ask for it from the DB Admin at my job, and bingo he found something....
He discovered that variations of the form dd-MMM-yyyy should work fine in both applications, that saved us =D....
Some samples:
02-feb-98, 02-FEB-1998, 02-Feb-1998.
Why this saved us? Because it prevent us from code a lot in the project to distinct the databases and do the convert of entry data for each single database application that our application connects to, really a pain in the ass XD....
Hope this little tip could save some of mine readers too =D.

Ok we already knows that Microsoft loves to do things almost like that, without any offense, I like Microsoft, but they get this Yahoo Alpha a new search engine from Yahoo that try to understand exactly what any of us is searching and put that on screen in a new fashion way, and this Google the number ONE search engine in the world, don't need to mention that I like Google too =D, put Live Search in the middle and generate this BING, the new Microsoft search engine.
First of everything the project codename was "Kumo" and BING is now the official name, they planned to release it tomorrow (june 3rd, 2009), but the beta is up and running so go on and test it.

All the features that they present are not there yet, see a preview bellow to understand, but it's working and what gives me creeps is that it REALLY WORKS GREAT, at least until now rs =D.
Another remarkable thing is that BING returns are a lot like Google ones, not only the links but the look too (XEROX MACHINE ¬¬)...

Oh now I want to see WHO is gonna win this fight, because the thing is getting really hot my friends, and there are no second places or they exists but the world don't see them.
Oh I was almost forgetting to tell you that BING already has win an acronym: But It's Not Google, great uh! rsrsrsrs.

WOW....Project Natal - Milo

Now this is really amazing, I was searching for something about Project Natal for Xbox360 and I discover two things from this Microsoft project.

The first is the Project called Lionhead Milo and brings to reality the dream of thounsands of us that works with tecnology, the interaction between men and machine. Man I got stunned when I saw the video bellow, I will not say anything about Milo, just click bellow and see for yourself.

Of course that there is a lot of things behind this project and I could only imagine what are the limits, the programming, research and AI (artificial intelligence) in it.

I hope that I can get there, work with that, in any way that it's possible to.
But to show all of you other interesting thing, see the video of the second thing that is Project Natal main project, just a showcase but still pretty beautiful.

Oh and before you see let me explain my thoughts, Microsoft is fighting against Nintendo with all weapons, and they decided to put an X in this fight(ha bad joke :P), they are developing a new gadget to plug into your Xbox360 and read a persons body, including movements and facial recognition to reflect directly, YES DIRECTLY, in games. Imagine that you're playing some tennis game, in Wii (that I still love very much) you use your wiimote to swing and hit the ball, in Xbox360 with Project Natal you only need to swing your hand in the desired direction, WOW really amazing don't ya think?

That is the X for Microsoft to hit Nintendo where it hurts, I hope that Nintendo survives, because I like both. But it seems that Microsoft will have the graphics and the interaction with this project, please Nintendo do something too.

Viajando pela net encontrei mais um joguinho febre na lista dos jogos flash's.
No MyBrute você escolhe um herói ou heroína, o nomeia e começa a treinar contra outros personagens. Infelizmente as lutas são automáticas, mas é divertido quando não temos nada pra fazer, como todo jogo flash rs.

Meus parceiros e agregados cresceram e agora temos o blog de um grande amigo meu, Danilo San lançou o Fala aí Geek!, um blog sobre tecnologia de extremo bom gosto e com uma pitada de humor nerd =DDD.

My partners and friends have grown and now we have a blog from a great friend of mine, Danilo San released Fala aí Geek!, that it's about technology with some nerd humor =DDD.
There is too a especial guest from the comics and this are from an excelent criticism and comedy. Imagine how it would be if God, that lives with Adam and Eve in the paradise was portrayed by a brazilian guy? The result are the comics of Carlos Ruas de Um sábado qualquer.
With light critics to the world as we know, ok ok not so light rs.
Was everybody knows or will discover by now, I'm a gamer, love it above all things (not all rs) and pretend to be in the industry someday, and almost out of nowhere I found this girl's blog Girls Of War. yeah girls play too, and they play very well, and are soooo cute. Congrats girls, your blog it's a very good one, access it.

Amanhã faz 1 ano que o blog está de pé e parece que ficará por muito tempo ainda... Por equanto não tenho um post comemorativo, mas aproveitem que vai ocorrer um evento importante também, o Earth Hour.
Hora de desligar novamente toda energia elétrica da sua casa, vá encontrar sua namorada(o), pegar uma aquela amiga(o) gostosa(o), comer o bolo de fubá da avó sozinho, ou desempoeirar aquele seu minigame de feira que roda 2h com 1 pilha AA (para os mais endinheirados, recarreguem seus nds's, psp's, gameboy's e qualquer outro portátil para usar durante o tempo livre).
O propósito do evento é muito interessante então por favor ao menos leiam ^^ e venham amanhã eu vou postar algo nerd em comemoração de aniversário.

For now I don't have any birthday posts but you all could participate this great event happening, the Earth Hour.
Time to turn-off your eletric energy at home, so go see your girlfriend(boyfriend), catch that hot friend of yours, eat your grandmother cake alone, or simply take off from the wardrobe that minigame wich costs you $1,99 and you can play 2h with one AA battery (for the ones that have a little more money, recharge your nds's, psp's, gameboy's or any other pocket console) to use in the meantime.
The purpose of the event it's quite an interesting one, so please at least read it ^^ and I see you tomorrow in some nerd comemorative post to the blog's birthday.

Primeiro eu queria me desculpar pela minha ausência no blog, as coisas não estão nada boas para minha família e muito menos na minha vida pessoal, por esses motivos estou postando menos ou quase nada rs.
Origami é arte japonesa de criar figuras com papel. É um dos meus passatempos favoritos já faz um bom tempo e o meu origami preferido é o Tsuru, um passarinho, acho que é uma garça.

É uma atividade muito divertida se você encontrar figuras que goste, já que elas podem ser reproduzidas em todos os tamanhos e praticamente com qualquer tipo de papel, eu já fiz com papel de bis e de balas trident rsrsrs.
Comecem pelos fáceis e em alguns minutos já estarão fazendo dezenas de figuras diferentes.
No site do Origami Club é possível assistir uma animação lenta o suficiente para aprender a fazer essa arte. Existem mais um montão de sites por aí que ensinam como fazer e vocês podem sempre apelar para o Google ou para o YouTube.

First I would like to apologise for my absensce in the blog, the things in my life are not so good this time and it's the same for my family, for this reason I'm posting near to nothing or nothing rs.
Origami it's the nippon art of create figures with paper. It's one of my favorites hobbies since I can remeber and my favorite origami is the Tsuru, a bird, I don't know the name in english if you know tell me ^^.
It's very fun if you find figures that you like, since they can be created in any size and almost in any type of paper, I did it with chocolate paper and buble gum paper too rsrsrs.
Start with the easy ones and in a blink of an eye you will be doing a hundred of figures from any type.
In Origami Club it's possible to see an animation, that is slow enough to learn it step by step. There are a lot more sites that teach you how to do it and you always can call Google or YouTube.

Recentemente eu descobri o site da Microsoft o PopFly, criador de websites e games no estilo Flash usando Silverlight.

E nessa descoberta resolvi botar minha vontade de produzir games pra funcionar e o resultado foi esse:

Recently I found this Microsoft site the PopFly, it's a website and games creator in Flash style but it uses Silverlight.

In my discovery I decided to put my will of create games into practice and the result could be seen above.

Vivemos em tempos que são previstas dificuldades e catástrofes dia após dia, as mais comentadas e geralmente as mais preocupantes são as questões que envolvem energia, água potável e aquecimento global.
"Ah mas o que eu tenho a ver com isso!" dizem alguns mal informados, "Tudo!" é a minha resposta.
Vamos começar neste post, falando sobre a água durante o banho e como economizá-la.
Nós gastamos em média 15 litros de água por minuto no banho, se tomarmos um banho de 20 minutos gastaremos 300 litros por banho. Agora imagine que em média cada ser humano toma banho 2 vezes por dia, então são 600 litros por dia, só no banho.
Considerando que todos na Terra tivessem acesso a água potável, seriam aproximadamente 12 bilhões de banhos por dia, 2 x 6 bilhões de seres humanos, logo seriam gastos
7 trilhões e 200 bilhões de litros por dia de água somente tomando banho.
Não vou fazer a conta pra um ano, não quero assustar ninguém, só alertar rs....
Agora se essas pessoas resolvessem desligar seus chuveiros 5 min, em média 3 para se ensaboar e passar um shampoo e 2 de enrolação, seriam 75 litros economizados e na conta final economizariamos 1 trilhão e 800 bilhões litros de água por dia.
Bom se você acha pouco então pode repensar seu conceito sobre o que é muito e o que é pouco....
Vamos colaborar não só por nossos filhos e filhos dos outros que já existem ou existirão um dia, mas todos que já vivem nesse planeta, por nós mesmos, pelo paraíso que possuímos e não enxergamos ^^....
Desliguem seus chuveiros para ensaboar o corpo e aproveitem para passar shampoo nesse momento, deixem para se barbear ou realizar qualquer outra tarefa que não precise do chuveiro fora dele, evitem enrolar no banho.

Muito bem muito bem, mais uma semana chegando ao fim com muito sol e chuva aqui em São Paulo nesse tempo que não decide o que quer da vida.
E falando em vida o filme dessa semana é mais uma dobradinha de cómedia sobre a vida de um cara com sobrenome de Focker tentando casar com uma garota que possui um pai paranóico ex-militar.
Possue um elenco fantástico, que inclui Robert De Niro e Ben Stiller, eu ri muito....

Não quero estragar a surpresa do filme, mas não é um filme de ação e sim uma espécie de suspense/romance eu acho rsrsrs.....
Veja o quanto é possível um homem fiel à sua esposa ir contra o sub-mundo da corrupção e manipulação por puro e simples amor.
Ok ok o filme não é meloso, só estou inaugurando com ele pois o contexto do filme é extremamente imerso em problemas reais da nossa sociedade.

Ah mas olha em que época estamos, fim de ano, um momento em que o mundo ou pelo menos uma boa parcela dele comemora dois eventos grandiosos por assim dizer.
Vamos ao natal, época de alegria, festejamos o nascimento de cristo e por isso distribuimos presentes aos nossos parentes e realizamos uma grandiosa ceia.
METIRA, e mentira das mais sujas e cínicas que um ser humano pode contar, porque você me pergunta. A resposta não é simples, mas eu digo o seguinte, quase nenhum de nós que festeja sequer é cristão ou ao menos sabe porque o feriado foi criado, não defendo a questão religiosa e sim crítico as ações tomadas nesse momento.
Vocês devem concordar que as pessoas não passam fome somente no natal e que as crianças pobres não sentem falta de brinquedos somente nessa época, mas me digam um momento em que surgem mais campanhas do tipo "Criança esperança", "Adote uma criança", "Acabe com a fome do mundo", "Todos por um mundo melhor", "Doe uma vida doe dinheiro para a África". É rídiculo e revoltante assistir esse tipo de publicidade pois elas surgem do nada somente no natal, impressionante não???
Não posso esquecer também do consumismo desenfreado sem motivos, como assim?
Em nenhuma outra época do ano o mundo consome tanto quanto num feriado natalino, a movimentação financeira é absurda, o que tem de mal nisso, não não há nada de errado, mas ninguém faz a mais palha idéia do porquê está comprando presentes, as pessoas com a maior fatia do bolo movimentam o mercado e fazem as campanhas para não se sentirem culpadas de ninguém mover um dedo para ajudar quem precisa.
Alguns de vocês comentarão exemplos de boas ações que ocorrem o ano inteiro e se intensificam no natal, claro os bons samaritanos sempre existirão e sempre existirão por entre os 6 bilhões de seres humanos que vivem neste planetinha, mas porquê o resto dos hipócritas só se mechem no natal?
Horas fácil para falsamente matar o sentimento de culpa, no melhor estilo "Nós influênciamos os brasileiros atráves da televisão o ano inteiro passando lixos de programas e manipulando informações e seus votos mas puxa nós temos o criança esperança temos o programa de ajuda para acabar com a fome doamos dinheiro para a AACD".
Estou me expressando sobre toda essa confusão, devemos ajudar no que podemos, lembrar do que devemos, comemorar quando sabemos o que comemoramos, não deixe de comprar, não deixe de ser feliz, apenas esteja consciente e faça o que puder para o resto do mundo andar para uma direção melhor e não afundar mais do que já está afundando.
Eu estava pensando em comentar do ano novo também mas fico por aqui dessa vez e espero que vocês comentem o que pensam sobre o assunto, aceito críticas, comentários, xingamentos, vamos conversar e espalhar nossas idéias ^^.

Olha quem apareceu ^^, é depois de um longoooooooooo tempo sem postar estou voltando a ativa, me desculpem a faculdade tomou um tempo absurdo nesse fim de semestre mas está tudo bem.
E para comemorar essa passagem para o último ano da faculdade trouxe alguns videos do que o pessoal da área de tecnologia ou que apenas curte games faz com seu tempo sobrando, pra não falar outra coisa......

o mundo já passou por muitos problemas e sempre a situação é revertida ou atacada de uma certa forma, seja suprimindo os fatos, seja atacando militarmente ou verbalmente. Os líderes das nações sempre tomam decisões que colocam o mundo no eixo que segundo muitos é o correto.

Bom eu diria que a distoração social é tão grande, não vou entrar em descrições profundas para não viajar falando um monte, que até esse senso de eixo correto na minha opinião não é o que deveria ser. Hein como assim? Como assim que imaginem vocês a situação hoje, o mundo vive uma instabilidade financeira completamente estranha e que poderia ter sido evitada caso tivesse sido tratada com menos arrogância, muitos países se metem nas questões políticas, financeiras e sociais de outros dizendo que são a polícia do mundo, que se eles não cuidarem da segurança internacional tudo vai ruir, a maior parte reclama dos problemas populacionais e de fome mas não fazem absolutamente nada para começar a resolver o problema e isso serve de exemplo para a crise ambiental que está por vir....

O que tudo isso tem a ver com o Brasil? Bom pra começo de conversa ele faz parte desses países, reclamada da pobreza e desigualdade e apesar de aparentemente ela reduzir os corruptos milhonários só aumentam em número, genêro e grau. A crise financeira tem impactos diretos em nossa estrutura apesar de negarmos fortemente e fazermos pouco para nos protegermos. A poucos dias atrás ligo o jornal, não não foi na rede globo, e vejo uma guerra absurda entre polícia civil e militar, lamentável, e mais lamentável ainda nossa imbecíl governador afirmando que é oposição política, simplesmente ridículo.

Pra melhorar a situação as eleições para prefeito parecem mais um circo do que um quebra pau de antigamente, os candidatos a prefeito ficam trocando ofensas e brincando com a situação do povo como se fossemos públicos desse circo e só quisessemos dar boas risadas.

O que fazer? Não faço a menor idéia e me sinto tão perdido quanto as pessoas do iraque que perderam um ditador e ganharam outro, qual vamos escolher o ditador democrata ou a ditadora da "oposição". Bom desejo boa sorte a todos nós pois iremos precisar, já fiz minha escolha, façam suas apostas vamos observar o que ocorre aqui e no mundo e fazer o que pudermos para mudar essa situação caótica em que vivemos.

Google Search masters 2008

Demorei mas estou postando novamente :P.....e trazendo feeds diretos sobre o evento que ocorreu aqui em São Paulo mês passado. O Google Search Masters tinha tudo pra ser o evento do ano em tecnologia no entanto não atingiu tudo que eu esperava, anunciado como um evento técnico onde seriam apresentadas novas tecnologias e plataformas usadas pelo Google foi realizado com um evento para power users, ou seja, administradores de sistemas e web masters que só utilizam ferramentas prontas para buscas e outros afins.
Bom ai você me pergunta duas coisas: o que eu esperava e que raios tem demais em mostrar as ferramentas e produtos e como utilizá-los.
Bom resposta para a primeira pergunta: eu esperava que ficassemos por dentro das tecnologias, sim isso mesmo código, informações sobre programação, como integrar as ferramentas via código em nossos sites e programas e o que podemos acrescentar à elas.
Resposta da segunda pergunta: não há nada de errado em apresentar isso mas foi um evento muito comercial e evangelista bem cara da Microsoft, me desculpem eu gosto de ambas mas odeio eventos comerciais.
Retirando esses fatos foi tudo bem divertido e interessante, foram algumas horas de boas risadas com o pessoal tentando, quando eu digo tentando é porque a coisa estava feia, tentando falar inglês e a maioria desistia e pedia pro apresentador usar o fone para tradução. Imaginem que a coisa foi tão feia que em alguns momentos a tradutora se enrolou, nem ela conseguia entender as perguntas para traduzir em português, ah me desculpem a franquesa mas não sabe não fale, teste com amigos é menos mico do que falar para umas 300 pessoas......
O mais engraçado foi ter algumas fotos minhas publicadas no picasa pela equipe do Google eeeeeeeeeeee manheeeeeeeeeeeeee to no Google ^^..... tem uma foto abaixo:

Ah sim claro não podia esquecer de comentar das Google Dolls, eu que dei esse nome :P uma mais bonita que a outra, só elas já valem esse evento e um possível próximo evento. Procurem por elas, estão em todos os eventos do Google ^^......

Browser Novo.....

Foi lançado mais um browser para a guerra da web, nosso amado Google (mesmo apoiando firefox) teve seus motivos e resolveu lançar o Chrome, e esse que vos fala está utilizando este novo browser para postar. Parece uma junção de várias funcionalidades interessantes dos outros navegadores e mais um montão de coisas novas e sim funciona bem pra caramba e até que é bem leve.

Do ponto de vista do usuário ainda não é possível afirmar se o browser sobe até as estrelas ou afunda no oceano, no entanto acredito que possívelmente será uma opção bem utilizada.

Para os programadores fica uma discussão muito forte sobre o V8, o engine para javascript do Google que opera dentro do Chrome, será que ele vai atrapalhar nossas vidas na hora de criar aplicações webs provocando mais um if(navegadorX) código tal; ou será uma ferramenta a mais que em certo ponto pode apenas ser mais uma ou ajudar em algum sentido?

O V8 é a engine Javascript open source do Google, ele foi escrito em C++ e implementa ECMAScript, o legal é que ele pode rodar dentro de outras aplicações C++ por ser standalone =D

Tech Ed, Search Masters, este mês de setembro está lotado de grandes eventos e temos mais um de 10 à 12 o Just Java, que acontece no Centro Universitário Senac, onde eu estudo ^-^!

Parece que a série de palestras será muito interessante este ano, mas teremos pouco assunto sobre mobile, no qual a linguagem Java é muito forte atualmente, infelizmente......

Aconselho o evento também, para quem puder pois infelizmente só não é mais caro que o Tech Ed.....

Mais um evento para os loucos por técnologia, tanto para os fuçadores quanto para os profissionais, participar de um evento do Google é sempre muito interessante e divertido. Apesar de provavelmente as inscrições já estarem fechadas eu vou fazer uma cobertura pós evento com post(s) sobre os assuntos do evento. Espero que mais de vocês também possam participar.

A bola da vez são as ferramentas de busca e a plataforma do Google, o que pode vir a facilitar a vida de muita gente, mas pra saber somente dia 24 de setembro......

TechEd 2008 Brasil

Opa opa Microsoft olhando para o Brasil novamente!
Recebi no meu email esses dias um aviso sobre o TechEd acontecer aqui em São Paulo pertinho de casa, fiquei tão feliz com a notícia que fui logo me inscrever, quando estava terminando a inscrição surgiu uma etapa para pagamento, eu pensei "ah normal ser pago o evento vamos ver o preço", absurdos 599 reais isso se você comprar no lançamento depois aumenta na sequência para 699 e depois 799, cara vou comprar uma licença do Windows com essa grana porque vale mais a pena não ??!!!
É nem desconto para estudantes dessa vez......aparentemente eles não aprendem nada sobre como instigar o público a fazer parte do "ecossistema" Microsoft, infelizmente para nós pobres estudantes. Bom fazer o que, espero que o evento seja muito bom e que o pessoal que vai aproveite bastante.
Se você tem grana e usufrui de ferramentas Microsoft é uma boa idéia fazer parte desse acontecimento.

Batman always been my favorite super-hero, just because its the most human of all and in 23, july of 2008 I had confirmed the rebirth of this hero movies in the theaters.
Batman Begins was the movie that started this new beginning, before it neither other movie of Batman has equal reaction, the older films with Keaton, George Cloney and the others don't gave the hero and its arch enemies the real representation that they deserve. Now with Dark Knight I can really say they are giving this hero what he deserve. Christian Bale fit as a glove as Batman as Heath Ledger in The Joker paper, they make this movie so intense that hits everyone souls easily. The only thing that makes me sad is the quick live and death of Two Faces, represented by Aaron Eckhart, but the movie is marvelous. Go see it now its too good to be real ^^!

Batman sempre foi meu super-herói favorito, simplesmente por ser o mais humano de todos e hoje (23 de julho de 2008) eu confirmo o renascimento desse herói no cinema.
Batman Begins foi o filme que como já diz o título serviu de início para essa nova fase, antes dele nenhum outro filme do Batman teve igual resposta dos fãs tão pouco da crítica, nenhum dos filmes antigos apresentava o herói da forma que ele merecia. Esse filme já foi uma tremenda alegria mas ao assistir Dark Knight realmente posso dizer que agora esse herói e seus vilões foram representados devidamente. A atuação de Christian Bale (Batman) encaixou como uma luva e Heath Ledger (Joker) deixa o filme tão intenso que chega a atingir a alma de cada um que assiste. O único pesar do filme é a passagem extremamente rápida do duas caras interpretado por Aaron Eckhart, mas o que não compromete o filme. Eu recomendo assistam ^^!

É hora de aproveitar para vermos o que a Google tem para mostrar sobre seus produtos. Podemos aprender muito de seus seminários e laboratórios de codificação neste evento, creio eu que esta é uma boa chance para desenvolver coisas novas, ter uma excelente dose de novas experiências e roubar um pouco da imaginação desse gigante rsrsrsrsrs.

Atualmente as comunidades na web vem crescendo muito rapidamente, quem nunca criou um perfil no myspace, orkut, flickr, facebook, livespaces (por incrível que pareça o loca da microsoft possui visitas rsrsrsrsrs) entre outras inumeras variações, sejam elas simples ou sofisticadas.
No entanto me deparei como uma muito interessante esses dias, o lastfm.com, um local muito parecido com facebook e orkut mas voltado especialmente para música, sua grande jogada é utilizar um software de sincronização instalado no computador do usuário que atualiza seu perfil musical do site de acordo com o que o usuário ouve na máquina ou online. O site disponibiliza várias prévias de músicas famosas de forma legítima.
Para aqueles que gostam de fazer amigos existe o grau de afinidade musical, você pode se juntar num pequeno clã dos fãs de hard rock, por exemplo, ou aproveitar pra conhecer novos gêneros e um pessoal diferente. É possível discutir e trocar mensagens assim como no orkut e o visual do site é muito bonito e leve.
Vale a pena gastar uns minutinhos e se tiver vontade pode me adicionar, basta procurar por vinavarro =D.....

Como em meu último post comentei sobre a GPL, vou descrever do que se trata.
A GPL (General Public License) foi idealizada em 1980 por Richard Stallman e publicada 9 anos depois. Foi criada para licenciamento de software livre e de uma forma simplificada diz o seguine:

Liberdade nº 0: A liberdade de executar o programa, para qualquer propósito;
Liberdade nº 1: A liberdade de estudar como o programa funciona e adaptá-lo para as suas necessidades;
Liberdade nº 2: A liberdade de redistribuir cópias de modo que você possa ajudar ao próximo;
Liberdade nº 3: A liberdade de aperfeiçoar o programa, e liberar os seus aperfeiçoamentos, de modo que toda a comunidade se beneficie deles;
Para liberdades 1 e 3 possuir acesso ao código-fonte é um pré-requisito.

C project - English

I was away for a long time just because my semester project at the university. I did my project in C, so i decided to put it as free code in the internet.
My project its a archive system simulator, in wich we can create the folders structure one by one with our own hands to observe just how the graph works or insert a pré-execution parameter to map a portion of our real system in the graph, the system must be Linux.
Why it must be Linux? Because I didn't have time to modify my parsing, 'cause the bar in Linux is / in and \ in Windows, in this case my professor asked us only to execute the project in Linux and not to worry about Windows, so I didn't worried about this matter before finishing it.
In the project I must create a shell (main method in my code) that receive commands to execute calls to my other methods and in these are the actions to be performed, all this depends on the command.
The actions implemented are:

Open directory;
Remove one directory e all its sub-directories and its files;
Remove files;
Print the file content in the screen, that doesn't necessarily means the execution of the file, just print what is inside of it.
List the directory content;
Link to a directory, almost like link in Linux;
When linked there must be two options: to list the linked directory content or open it;
Implement Depth-first search.

I implemented graph in my struct, this was a request from the professor.
